John, First, thanks for the nod.

My wheels have been spinning a lot about this issue and I think it boils down to the progressive de-valuation of humans in the face of technology. Technology has not enabled freedom of expression, it has made us conform to set tight formats of boxes and 140 characters and broken our ability to be compensated for music, literature and other artistic creation. The only speech that is truly protected from being stolen, mashed and twisted is advertising. And now newspapers have willingly unleashed hate, just because they have the technology to do so. I grieve the way technology has made the American press sensationalized and impotent.
